Do you pay someone to hem your jeans? No more! This technique has been showing on Pinterest for months. I finally put it to the test! And I was thrilled with the results! Here's how:
Turn up your jeans to the outside. The gold thread of the original hem should lie right on the point of where you want your new hem length to be! Stitch very close to the fold of this original hem where the denim is light colored! I used foot 37 and stitched 1/8 inch from the gold line.
Trim off the excess fabric leaving about 1/2 inch seam allowance. Zig zag the edge using foot 1. This stitching will prevent your jeans from fraying!
Turn the seam allowance up into the leg of your jeans. Topstitch this seam allowance in place from the right side of your pants. I liked using foot 1 for this as the width of the foot helped to hold the thick layers flat! BERNINA machines stitch through all those thick layers like butter.....makes sewing really fun when your machines works so well!
That's it! Less than 20 minutes and your jeans are ready! Give it a try!
