I am sharing with you my favorite dish on the table this Thanksgiving!
Mashed Sweet Potatoes
2 pounds cooked sweet potatoes
2 T butter
2 T maple syrup...the real stuff!
1/2 tsp grated orange zest
1/2 tsp balsamic vinegar
3/4 tsp kosher salt
freshly ground pepper
Scoop out the flesh of the hot potatoes.
Heat butter, syrup, zest and vinegar over medium heat.
Mash this mixture along with the salt and pepper into the potatoes.
Serve immediately.
You are an amazing BWOS family! Can you believe we have been able to bless others with 1592 pillowcases, and you continue to bring in more. Through one simple act of sewing you make the world a better place. Some of the places that pillowcases have been distributed are Duke Children's Hospital, Community of Hope children's program, Aversboro Assisted Living, the Raleigh Rescue Mission, Durham Pregnancy Center, Methodist Home for Children, Phoenix Assisted Living, Lee's Long Term Care, and A Good Life Family Care Home.
Bring in 3 cans or more of food for the Community of Hope food bank November 20 - 27, and Marilyn will say "thanks" by honoring 20% off your fabric (min 1 yd cut), books, patterns and notions wall - in stock items only - one time purchase.
It's that time of the year when you dream of gift ideas and hope you can remember that wonderful vision later. Why not create a journal for your ideas, clippings, fabric swatches, etc. so all your "thoughts" are in one place. I like this journal cover created to celebrate Sew Pink in October. For children or even teenagers a glue stick can be a prized notion! Glue sticks will hold a pocket in place for topstitching, keep straight seams together temporarily, tack a hem down so pins don't stick fingers while the stitching is done, etc. And the best part is the glue washes right out of the project! Hmmm...a glue stick may be a great notion for ALL ages!
